GOIN’ UP THE COUNTRY

When I was but a wee little dweeb, I became obsessed with the late Canadian pianist Glenn Gould. (I remember, completely delusionally, setting an egg timer on top of our piano to time myself playing Invention No. 13 in under 45 seconds just like him…the fastest I clocked was about 58 seconds and it was a total mess). I had a picture of him in my locker. The fangirling continues to this day: this Month I got to write about Gould’s “Idea of North” for ChicagoMusic.org.
